This started with me wondering what happens to all of the medication bottles people use in one year, their entire life… So I began collecting mine throughout the year without being entirely sure what I was going to do with them. 1 year became 5 and then TUBU Fest came up. We had a gallery space and I decided to finally use them for a photoshoot. I climbed into a bathtub where they were poured on top of me. Then photos were taken of me exploring various emotions as I’m immersed bathtub of medication bottles to varying degrees. Throughout the photoshoot I thought about how much medication I’d consumed in my life up to this point, the impact it had on my body short term and long term, the benefits and costs to meds. Being diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 10 this was an incredibly cathartic experience.
